SHAH ALAM, June 24, 2021: SIRIM staff has recently taken their own initiative in setting up a foodbank in efforts to lessen the burden of their colleagues who are facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic.

 

The drive was made possible in a short span of time as SIRIM staff gathered essential daily items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, canned food as well as items like diapers for babies.

 

SIRIM President and Group Chief Executive Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad said, SIRIM staff has demonstrated they kindness towards colleagues whose livelihood are due to various reasons including having spouse who are being retrenched.

 

“We are aware that there are staff who are affected with this current economic situation and they may not want to voice out their problems due to personal reasons. So, we hope that this contribution by the staff for their work colleagues can help ease their burden,” he said. He said, SIRIM staff who needed the assistance can just drop by the collection place and bring home the items without any registration or questions asked.

 

“The management is very touched and proud with the spirit of loyal friendship among SIRIM staff who are willing to help their friends who are in need. This programme will continue as long as there are contributions coming in,” Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin added.

 

He said, the success in gathering the items in a short time is also in line with one of SIRIM’s Cultural Beliefs pillar -- “Act Fast”. The essential items were gathered since Friday 18 June and to date, the items are still being received from SIRIM staff at various collection points at SIRIM Shah Alam, as well as SIRIM offices in Rasa, Selangor; National Metrology Institute of Malaysia in Sepang and also in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

 

Collections were also made in Klang in order for staffs residing in the area to receive the donations. The contributions and dissemination of the items were conducted in accordance to SOP during the lockdown period due to COVID-19 pandemic.

SHAH ALAM, 24 Jun 2021: Melihatkan ada kalangan rakan sekerja yang turut terkesan dengan tekanan ekonomi semasa, anggota kerja Kumpulan SIRIM mengambil inisiatif untuk mewujudkan “foodbank” atau gerobok makanan khas.

 

Inisiatif itu dibuat dalam tempoh singkat, dengan anggota kerja mengumpul barangan keperluan penting seperti beras, minyak masak, gula, makanan dalam tin termasuk lampin pakai buang bayi.

 

Presiden dan Ketua Eksekutif Kumpulan SIRIM Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad berkata, anggota kerja SIRIM telah menunjukkan sikap prihatin kepada rakan sekerja yang kurang bernasib baik terutama yang menghadapi masalah kewangan kerana pelbagai sebab antaranya pasangan hilang punca pendapatan kerana diberhentikan kerja.

 

“Kami sedar ada anggota kerja yang terkesan dengan keadaan ekonomi sekarang dan mungkin ada yang tidak mahu bersuara kerana sebab tertentu. Oleh itu, kami harap sumbangan sesama anggota kerja ini dapat membantu meringankan sedikit beban,” katanya.

 

Katanya, anggota kerja hanya perlu mengambil barangan yang disumbangkan tanpa sebarang pendaftaran ataupun soalan yang akan ditanya. “Pihak pengurusan amat terharu dan berbangga dengan semangat setiakawan anggota kerja SIRIM yang sanggup membantu rakan mereka yang berada dalam kesusahan. Program ini akan diteruskan selagi ada sumbangan yang diterima, Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin berkata.

 

Menurutnya, kejayaan mengumpul sumbangan dalam tempoh yang singkat ini juga selaras dengan satu daripada teras budaya kerja SIRIM (SIRIM Cultural Beliefs) iaitu “Act Fast” atau Bertindak Pantas.

 

Pengumpulan barangan keperluan harian dibuat sejak Jumaat, 18 Jun dan sehingga ini, sumbangan barangan terus diterima di beberapa pusat pengumpulan di SIRIM Shah Alam, serta di pejabat SIRIM di Rasa, Selangor; Institut Metrologi Kebangsaan Malaysia di Sepang dan juga di SIRIM Bukit Jalil.

 

Selain itu, pengumpulan juga dibuat di Klang, bagi membolehkan anggota kerja yang tinggal di kawasan berkenaan mendapatkan barangan sumbangan. Penyerahan dan pengagihan barangan sumbangan dibuat dengan mematuhi SOP yang ditetapkan di sepanjang tempoh lockdown berikutan pandemik COVID-19.
